Everything you need to know about visiting Hong Kong and Macau.
Take the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge bus (45 min, ~HK$65) or the TurboJet ferry (55 min, ~HK$175). Both operate frequently throughout the day.
An Octopus card (HK$50 refundable deposit, or a tourist version pre-loaded) covers the MTR, buses, trams, Star Ferry and most shops, 7-Elevens and cafes in Hong Kong, and you can top it up with an Indian Visa, Mastercard or UnionPay card. However, a standard Octopus does not work in Macau, where you will need cash in Macanese pataca (MOP), Macau Pass, or Alipay/WeChat Pay. Carry some MOP or HKD cash for Macau taxis and smaller shops, as international cards are only reliable at hotels, malls and larger casinos there.
Yes, Hong Kong has a well-established Indian vegetarian dining scene, including Woodlands (the city's first Indian vegetarian restaurant, with branches in Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai), Veda in Central, and Branto for South Indian dosas. Woodlands also operates a branch in Macau, and most casino resorts there run large international buffets with clearly labelled vegetarian options. Pure-veg and Jain travellers are comfortable, though it helps to plan a few restaurant locations in advance since Indian options are concentrated in specific districts.
